Trusting the instability: Uranus transits to your 4th house

And some guiding questions for the upcoming USA Uranus return!

I found myself looking at photos of my old kitchen recently. A kitchen I abandoned in a state I fled from when my life really started to turn upside down. When change rolled through my life, and I just let it.

I remember those warm yellow walls, the gathered garden flowers on the table. The slow cooker out and busy with something. A dirty pot on the stove. As I was gazing at this photo from my past, I noticed how far away it felt. Like I was reaching back into some half-remembered dream of what it was like to have a home that I really settled in. I noticed some shock in my system as I stared at this photo and its glowing settledness. Shock to remember that I had really ever even had that kind of external stability in the first place.

Ever since Uranus has been transiting Taurus, they have been opposing my fourth house of home, family, and foundations. And most recently, as Uranus moves to late-stage Taurus, they have been directly opposing the ruler of my 4th house (which sits in the 4th house).

This transit has been anything but comfortable. Anything but stable. Anything but settling.

Uranus has slowly churned the depth of my 4th house material and planets that lie here and uprooted every single thing that has not been working the last number of years. What has ensued has been pure chaos. What it has begged of me to ask is: how much do I trust the chaos?

How much can I soften into the chaos, instead of resisting it.

Uranus is a planet of innovative change and intuitive insight. They bring awakening that disrupts your life but also leads you to greater awareness and alignment.

Uranus is a bit of a shit-stirrer, too. They disrupt tradition. They are revolutionary and tuned towards what’s new and evolutionary. Uranus teaches us that what is practiced is not always what will serve going forward. What has been is not what will be. Uranus shakes things up— bringing in different ideas we hadn’t thought possible. They open a possibility horizon amidst the chaos. We are led into a realm of the unexpected during a Uranus transit.

This Uranus transit has really been testing me in my faith in change itself. Do I trust the unearthed unfolding of the alchemy process? Can I trust the process of change, even if it is unsettling and chaotic for awhile?

As the United States prepares to enter its Uranus Return (beginning this July), I feel these are all questions that relate to many more people than just myself and my own internal process.

A Uranus return is a significant time of change and self-discovery. A time where you are encouraged to break free of old traditions and restrictions that are holding you back. It’s quite disruptive; it’s incredibly freeing. In the astrology community, they say you cannot plan for a Uranus transit. Uranus disrupts plans. You have to go with the change… adapt to it. Become it. In order to flow with it.

Now, Uranus acts very different in Taurus than they do in Gemini. In Gemini, Uranus is likely to feel way more at home. More able to move quickly and ignite awakening with regards to belief systems and conversations.

For a whole country to go through its Uranus return will definitely mark a time of meaningful and chaotic, innovative change in the United States. A time of great awakening. But change and awakening are not comfortable; and they are not often even pretty. It’s unsettling! Can we trust this process as it unfolds in the United States the next 8 years?

Mark my words… the United States will be a completely different place, a different country 8 years from now. There are abundant ways of how that could manifest as the future is always being written. How you relate to it NOW has a big effect on what will be created in the future.

In walking with Uranus so intimately the last several years through transit, what I can say is that the experience is way worse if you resist the disruption to the status quo that Uranus brings. Hanging on to old stability that actually is no longer serving you will set you up for some intense struggles during a Uranus transit. Uranus brings revolution. Can you trust the wisdom of change as it sweeps through your life, even if it knocks you off your feet?

Because when I look at this old photo of my cozy-looking kitchen, what I didn’t know at the time, but which I do know now, is that the apartment was not the healthiest for me. I was likely living amidst toxic black mold, and I didn’t even know it. Sometimes what is safe and stable is not serving you. Sometimes staying the same will hinder your progress. Uranus transits help us welcome change into our lives.

Transits where our life stability is impacted also bring an opportunity to reach for and rely on a deeper inner stability that is not temporary or fleeting. As my living situation and general sense of security in the world has been unsettled by the transit I’ve been going through, I’ve had to cultivate over and over an inner stability that is with me through all of the unsettledness.

How I have cultivated this has been through turning within in my spiritual and psychic practice. It is the spiritual realm and tending to my own energetic hygiene that has been my anchor during these times; holding me and connecting me to grace amidst the change.

What I have been practicing is how to *be* at home amidst the changes. Home not being something that is just a static, physical place, but more of a *being practice*. Can I vibrate at home and feel safe in my body even if my external world is disruptive and changing?

I see all of these lessons to be very relevant in how to surf the waves of the upcoming Uranus transit in the United States with some greater calm and ease. How adaptable can you stay these next 8 years? And can you trust the chaos to be leading us to somewhere more awakened and revolutionary?

And perhaps the most important question: How can you create stability inside amidst instability outside of you?

These are some guiding questions I’m holding as we all prepare to enter the Uranus portal this summer here in the United States. Prepare to be unprepared! Be as fluid and adaptable as you can be. Trust the change and anchor into inner stability.

And! Humor goes a loooooong way in crazy, chaotic times. Personally, if I have one “plan” for these next 8 years… it’s to remember to laugh as much as I can. ;)
